Drug Addiction Rapid Detox Forums

I have been on methadone for over 3 years and countless other opiates for years before the methadone. I have talked to a few nurses at two of the six clinics that perform this "rapid detox" procedure. I wonder what opiates.com or the waismann method has to say about performing this procedure on methadone addicts since methadone likes to hide in your body. This is a fact. So it is not easily cleaned from your system with even the medications used to do so in this procedure. So after the procedure what is to keep hidden methadone from reattaching to receptors and there ya go all that for nuthin!!! I am thinking of doing rapid detox am just waiting for a few answers to questions and some more info from actual methadone addicts who have gone thru it. Anyone who could share some insight please do so. thanks so much.........tera

hey tera, ive been in similar situation to your self this is my second detox off methadone, and yes methadone is the hardest opiate to come off in my opinion because it is designed to stay in your body for long periods at a time. but whatever the amount your on it is possible, by just taking a day at a time. the drugs they usually give u while your detoxing is loffexodine sulphate which is supposed to help with the with drawels by lowering your blood presure but in my experience with it it makes me lightheaded and dosy thats all.
sometimes they will give you some vallium to help with the insomnia which helps if you take it only when you really need it.
my revious detox was a rapid 7 day detox in rehab which i found really hard. this time i am doing at home over a longer period.
i think it helps to get onto the lowest amount of methadone before you start your detox i have currently managed to get down to 5 mls and reducing down hope to be on zero by the 8th of dec. get some more support from people on here & do what ever you feel able to do. hope this helps a lilttle .. good luck
